Dread vs. Delight

There is so much going on in my life right now, job searching and interviewing, house hunting (just general), subbing every single day, and I've started this diet on Weight Watchers.
I'm loving it.
So Far, I have lose a total of 5.4 pounds!
WOOHOO.
It's not a lot, but it's a great start on this long journey that I have.

I have recently gotten a gym membership with my mom and we have been trying to schedule a time to go check out this gym and get our first workout in. It has been SO long since I have set foot in a gym, over a year actually, but even then I wasn't going consistently. Well, today it has FINALLY worked out for us to go together. I'm filled with mixed emotions.

For those of you that know me, you know that I HATE to sweat! I hate to be hot, and I hate to be uncomfortable. HOWEVER, I'm so looking forward to taking a step in the right direction. This gym time will be a great way to my mom and I to spend a couple of hours together a few times a week. It's a great way to rev-up my weight loss and take the leaps that I need to get where I need to be. My husband is thinking about joining as well, and he is doing the 7day free trail with me starting today. I have the full membership, and it would be great if we could work it out where he could go with me also!

Above the dread of going to the gym in a few minutes, I'm completely filled with delight and excitement over this. I know it sounds so simple and you are probably wondering why does something so silly get me so excited...because it's a great step in the right direction. Every time I start to try to lose weight, I take big jumps and don't focus on the small steps to building my foundation. This time is different and small steps in the right direction are just what I need.

I hope you all are having a fantastic Thursday, but guess what...
TOMORROW IS FRIDAY!
WOOOHOO!

Friend Makin' Monday

Friend Makin' Mondays: Are You A Bookworm?

1) How often do you read?  I used to hate reading, up until the last year or so. I have really started to enjoy reading again. Now, I'm reading almost every single day.

2) What's the last book you read and loved? I love the book I just finished reading; it is called Leota's Garden by Francine Rivers (Christian Fiction book). However, I will say that I read a book about a month ago that was one I just couldn't put down. I don't normally read books with heavy language, but this one was just so intriguing I couldn't put it down. It was called Saving Max by Antoinette van Heugten. It's about a boy with extreme autism (which was what drew me to the book as an educator), and his mother is on a journey to prove his innocence in a murder case. What happens will blow you away! I highly recommend if you can stand the language in the first few chapters (it's not so bad after that).

3) What book(s) are you currently reading?  As I mentioned above, I just finished Leota's Garden yesterday, and tonight when I go to bed I plan on starting Teach Like Your Hair's on Fire by Rafe Esquith. A dear teacher friend of mine gave me this book as a gift, and I can't wait to start it.

4) Share a few of your favorite authors.  Wow, this is a tough question and if I took FOREVER to type it out, it would get rather lengthy. So, I'll just name a few: Francine Rivers, Emily Griffin, Nicholas Sparks, MOST children book authors
5) What's next on your list of must-reads? I plan to start my book mentioned above tonight. My other books I hope to read are as follows: Heaven is for Real, Water for Elephants, and Something Borrowed

Tip the Scale Thursday

As I mentioned in my previous post, I started my WW last Monday, and was finally brave enough to weigh again today (almost 2 weeks in). I decided to make Thursday my official weigh-in day. It gives me the whole week almost to work super hard, but not so close to the weekend that I sabotage myself :)
So, here it is..my big insight on the scale.....

WOOHOO!! I have lost 4.4 pounds since I started this thing! YAY ME!
Ok, so there is my little victory dance for the day!

Overhauling!

Yep. That's exactly what I have been doing all day! We had some terrible storms and tornadoes here in Alabama today across the state. As a result, schools were canceled for the day, and my husband did not get to go into work either. We had a day at the house, trying to stay in out of the weather. While we were stuck inside on this yucky day, I took the time to overhaul--both on the computer and at home.

I'm a graduate in Elementary Education and building my job interview portfolio. I made a HUGE dent it that today and feel pretty accomplished, but still have a ways to go before it is complete.

We are getting new furniture (hopefully next week), so we cleaned out a second room for the couch and loveseat that we have now. I'm so ready to get this furniture moving over with! I made a pile of boxes of things for my sweet hubby to put in the attic tomorrow!

I spent a lot of time online today as well. Cell phone towers here were either down or overloaded most of the day, so Facebook seemed to be a great way to keep up with everyone's well-being and the damage in surrounding areas. While I was on the computer, I thought I would update my blog, seeing as how I haven't been on here in FOREVER!

Last night, we went grocery shopping, for healthy foods only! When we got home, we had a Kitchen Purge, emptying out off the junk we had in the house. I started my WW plan last week and lost two pounds (WOOHOO!) and plan to stick to it! I want to be in shape and healthy when the husband and I decide to start our family in the next year or two, and I have a lot of work ahead of me! Definitely going to need prayers there.

So that's kind of an overview of my day spent overhauling! I plan to keep up with my blog better from now on because I realized today just how much I missed it. Stay tuned for my post that is soon to come about our cruise we took over Spring Break.

Stay Blessed!
